Ronda is a gorgeous pueblo blanco (whitewashed village) in the Province of Málaga, whose wines recently rose to international acclaimed. On this journey, you will be escorted to discover some premium wines of the region with local and international varieties like Petit Verdot and Pinot Noir. The pristine environment and the biodynamic viticulture give a different and unique twist to these highly rewarded wines.
Ronda just for itself deserves a trip if it’s only to stroll through the cobbled streets of the former moorish downtown area or to take breathtaking views of the imposing Tajo, whos bridge rises right between the old and the new town in a canyon which is more that 100 metres high.
Ronda is one of those Andalusian whitewashed towns taking you back to time, with its folkloristic fiestas, the bullfights, the history of the bandoleros or the terrific views and landscapes which inspired some of the most beloved scripts written by famous artists such as Orson Wells or Ernest Hemingway.
Ronda’s original Roman name was Acinipo, the village of wine. Latins, arabs and the Catholic Kings afterwards, always enjoyed the quality of the wines produced in the area, exporting them all around the Mediterranean.
The arrival of the filoxera bug exterminated the local vines until a new Renaissance of the wine production which took place at the beginning of the 90’s thanks to the vision of the Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe aided by famed wine maker Juan Manuel Vetas from Bordeaux. This team planted new international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and mostly Petit Verdot, whose 100% single varietal wines are the most celebrated of the entire region.
Other wine makers like Frederich Schatz or Kieninger planted a wide range of varieties as well, like Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Lemberger etc. Nowadays we count more than 20 wine cellars in the area of Ronda, with mostly boutique wineries with a limited production of premium wines.
The altitude, the terroir and the climate of the area have been the keys to use modern either modern ecological viticulture tecniques or biodynamic philosphy which make the Ronda wines an absolute wonder among wine lovers and sommeliers.
Our goal is to offer a full vision of the different wine styles produced among the finest wine cellars, tasting wines from the perspective of a French Chateaux and wines elaborated following ancentral symbolism and organic agriculture.
Indeed, according to your time at disposal, after the wine tasting our client can stay the time they like in Ronda to enjoy the delicious local gastronomy with the charming atmosphere of a pueblo blanco.
